Rapid urbanization and economic development in most Asian countries and regions have brought about many problems experienced by most developed countries in the past, regarding water, soil and air environment and public health. Intensified social activities, lifestyle diversification, ever-rising living standard as well as the increased worldwide exchanges of people and goods have made the problems more prominent, at the same time, have raised many new issues that have to be addressed immediately, such as water safety and security, agricultural soil security, transboundary air pollution, renewable energy development and utilization, occurrence of micro-plastics, and newly-emerging chemical pollutants and microbial and viral agents of health concerns.
EPAM provides a platform for sharing knowledge, building multi-lateral collaboration, engaging in discussions and debates among policymakers, stakeholders, scientists, and professionals through high quality presentations showcasing sustainable technological solutions, processes, and management strategies that address current and emerging Environmental and Public Health Issues in Asian Mega-cities. It has been held once a year since 2009 in rotation between Japan, Korea, and P. R. of China. EPAM 2024 is being held in November 13-15th, 2024 in the most beautiful city, Seoul, Korea. This forum will focus mainly on innovative and strategical solutions relating to the current and emerging environmental and public health issues such as, micropollutants, e.g., pharmaceuticals, micro-plastics etc., waste recycle/reuse, and particulate matters in Asia. Discussions and debates over the latest scientific and practical knowledge, strategic approaches and innovations that contribute to the sustainability of the environment and public health of our cities are welcome.
